Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) over this forgotten big rig. This is a shot I always dreamed of and never actually thought I would be lucky enough to catch it. After missing out on the first two nights of the big Aurora storm due to clouds, I was not expecting to see any lights. I seen the forecast was clear for the night so I went out to one of my favorite spots to shoot with the idea of trying to capture my first milky way shot of 2015. I was shooting a large panorama ending with a similar angle to this shot when I looked on the screen there was a big green spot in the sky , at first I thought oh did I get some weird glare when I was light painting the truck? Then I looked up and there it was a big bright spot in the sky! Over the next several shots it continued to grow and move and it was just an intense moment for me and by far the closest I have ever seen the greens of the Aurora. Ironically I had no idea a cme had just hit with a kp5.33 because my phone was in the cab of the truck to light it for the shots. This shot was absolutely pure luck and being in the right place at exactly the right time as this display lasted only about 20 minutes.
